Easy like 1-2-3
We see a fascinating trend with regards to inbound sales at the moment where vessel owners / operators are requesting quotes for wave radar technology to be equipped onboard their ordered and/or planned newbuilds.
Strangely enough most of them already have an existing fleet with several vessels already engaging in marine operations. So what's the reasoning behind the need of real-time ocean surface measurements in offshore operations in a year or a two, but not now on ongoing operations?
Nope i know, it doesn't make much sense no.
It got me thinking that perhaps there's a misconception that retrofitting such equipment onboard a vessel already in operation is difficult, expensive and time consuming. Maybe it's easy to assume that the vessel will have to be in dock/dry dock for scheduled maintenance / survey or that it's difficult to schedule and therefore expensive to get a Miros engineer onboard with the equipment to do the installation and commissioning of the system.
Well that's definitely not the case. Retrofits are and let me quote Jacksons 5 "easy like 1-2-3"
Depending on which solution you're in need of its as simple as there's actually no hardware / sensors to be installed at all. Doesn't get much easier than that and all of which is needed is for us to get a Miros laptop onboard and connected that to the existing navigational radar onboard. This is of course an easy task for the crew onboard to fix themselves. Once hooked up through TeamViewer, we remotely double check that everything is correctly connected and that the measurements are working.
The more advanced and complex solution called WaveSystem consists of the above mentioned Wavex solution and our RangeFinder sensor. Where the latter is an actual hardware sensor with a custom-made bracket.

But don't worry, it's still easy as 1-2-3.
The equipment is sent to the quayside wherever your vessel is calling and then it's an easy carry on onboard. Once onboard the vessel crew will install the bracket and run the cabling so that the sensor has power and ethernet. This can of course be prepared in advance and the installation and cable hook up can be done whilst in port, in transit and so on. It will not affect operations and it is usually completed in less than a days worth of work.
The beauty of having an IoT and cloud based system is that we are able to again remotely check that everything is done correctly and working, something we then monitor on a continuous basis for you as well.
Perhaps you only have a project where such technology is needed / beneficial for a limited period of time or have a limited time charterer and you can't see the cost benefit of purchasing a system for such a limited time? Well fear not, we also do software as a service. Meaning you dont have to purchase any equipment and only subscribe to the measurements / data we supply. Again "easy like 1-2-3"
Don't wait, equip your vessels today and take your operations to a new level!
