Shoebox football

What you need

1 shoebox, 4 skewers, glue, 4 corks, 10 pegs, paint, brushes, craft/ Stanley knife and a ping pong ball.

Instructions

Step 1. From either end of the shoebox draw a line (just over the height of the ping pong ball) and cut a rectangle out in the (to create your goal) and repeat for the other end (as you can see in the above image).

Step 2. Paint the inside of your box green and leave to dry (I did this last but its up to you when you do it).

Step 3. Paint your penalty boxes, half way line and centre circle in white on the inside base of your box for the pitch. Alternatively you can cut them out and stick them down.

Step 4. To ensure you get the right height you will want to place your peg on the side of the box and ensure it is a fingers width from the bottom (so it can swing back and forth). Then draw a line where the grasping ends meet.

Step 5. Resting your skewers on top of the box space them out so they are equal distance. Once you are happy push the skewers through on the draw line (so each skewer is level). You need to ensure that you alternate the handles either side (as below).

Step 6. Place your corks onto the points of the skewers (for safety) and this will hold them into their holes. Ensure you allow a bit of movements left and right where possible.

Step 7. On the first skewer place 2 pegs so they are either side of the goals mouth. On the next skewer place 3 pegs on the skewer so it covers the gaps in front of the 2 skewers.

Step 8. Mirror the above step on the other end of the shoebox.

Step 9. Glue the pegs in place.

Step 10. With the lid and excess card cut out 10 players and glue onto the pegs.

OK so you are ready to go, stick on the Match of the Day theme tune and get the goals flowing!
