Easy Guide to Getting Started with Your First AI Engineer

Easy Guide to Getting Started with Your First AI Engineer

Happy Wednesday!

So, you know AI is a thing. And you know that some tech people are engineers. But other than that, you don’t really get what’s going on in the industry.

That’s alright. I can’t say that I’ve been there, but many of my clients have — so I’ll give you the walkthrough I usually conduct with them.

Nerd alert: I’m a big fan of AI, but I’ll try to speak in the easiest terms possible!

  1. If you’re looking to implement AI into your efforts, then yes, your first hire will have to be an AI engineer.
  2. An AI engineer is someone who uses their skills in engineering and computer science to build machines or software programs that can think for themselves.
  3. AI is advancing so fast: what was used six months ago might literally be outdated now.

One key thing to remember is that integrating AI is not just about technology, but also about culture. Embracing AI means fostering an environment of continuous learning and adaptation. Encourage your team to stay curious and open to new possibilities that AI can bring to them — getting used to this mindset will be crucial as AI continues to evolve and redefine industry standards.

As with every person you bring into your team, in the case of an AI Engineer, you need to understand their responsibilities, things you need to consider about their role, and the first few things they should actually accomplish. I talk about all of this in this article.
