At Easy Foods, innovation and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do. In line with our ongoing commitment to greener practices, we are thrilled to announce that we have secured a grant to support our energy-saving initiatives at the plant. This grant will cover a portion of the broader projects we are implementing to enhance energy efficiency across our operations, marking an important step in our environmental efforts.
The grant was awarded thanks to the comprehensive assessment of our plant’s energy conservation and waste minimization efforts, conducted by the University of Miami Industrial Assessment Center in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy. We are particularly grateful to Ibrahim Ahmed, Ph.D., Assistant Director of the University of Miami Industrial Assessment Center, whose expertise and support were instrumental in securing this grant.
One of the key projects funded by the grant includes significant modifications to our ventilation systems to optimize airflow and cooling throughout the facility. By lowering A/C vents and enhancing our compressed air systems—such as refining compressor selection and improving ducting—we anticipate substantial energy savings.
In addition to these upgrades, we are incorporating cutting-edge technology into our operations. Partnering with Boston Dynamics, we will deploy a robotic dog to diagnose air and gas leaks, as well as detect friction from worn bearings—key contributors to excess energy consumption. These innovations are a major step forward in reducing electricity usage at our plant.
While the grant will help fund these important initiatives, it is just one part of a larger sustainability strategy at Easy Foods. We are committed to making additional investments in green technology and energy-saving practices beyond this grant, further advancing our long-term environmental goals.

We were honored to host Congressman Darren Soto at our plant, where he congratulated Juan Pablo Viejo, our COO, on securing the grant. Congressman Soto expressed his strong support for our energy-saving initiatives and emphasized the importance of collaboration between government and businesses to foster innovation and cleaner manufacturing practices.
This grant is part of the national Investing in America agenda, which focuses on supporting the development of critical energy technologies. Although the initiative primarily targets the energy and battery sectors, it reflects a broader movement toward energy efficiency, one that Easy Foods is proud to contribute to.
Sustainability remains a core pillar of our mission, and this grant is just the beginning. We aim to position Easy Foods as a leader in environmentally friendly manufacturing, benefiting both our community and the planet. Our commitment to greener practices inspired us to pursue this grant, enabling us to invest in projects that go beyond the scope of this funding and further our environmental impact.
We extend our sincere thanks to Congressman Soto, Dr. Ibrahim Ahmed, the University of Miami Industrial Assessment Center, and the entire Easy Foods team for their dedication and collaboration. Together, we are not only producing top-quality tortillas but also paving the way for a more sustainable future in food production.
