The “Easter Sunday” Entry

I am the first child and being the first child means I have amazing and also annoying little siblings.

As a big sister, I have learnt that I have to be understanding and forgiving nonetheless. It’s so hard sometimes, but necessary.?

In friendships, it’s even harder. Once I feel disrespected or hurt, I know it’s time to move and that’s very easy for me.?

I know you should we forgiving and I forgive, but staying close to the person in question is another issue entirely. I’d rather cheer you on from afar than risk getting hurt again by getting close.

This is my humanity.?

I have been reading my Bible in one year starting from the Old Testament. Let me just say a lot of it is baffling.

I read how the people of God got saved over and over again and still fell away from God over and over again. Still God kept searching for them and drawing them in.?

Seeing their pitfalls in 4K kept me wondering what kind of people they were??

Like how can someone love you so much and you just remain ungrateful and keep running away?

But something amazing happens in the New Testament.

After all the stories of humans refusing to just stick with God, God almost wiping out all his creation and all the atrocities committed, Jesus still chose to die for our sins. Kai.

Just knowing the resurrection story is beautiful. But knowing the resurrection story after understanding the background of disobedience in humanity just shows the profound love of God.

What amazes me is Jesus did not come down and decide to be mean to humans because we don’t listen.?

No.

He came down and spoke compassionately, gave selflessly, loved without bounds. He came down and still wanted us to be saved.?

As humans we forgive and keep at arms length, sometimes we don’t even forgive, but God forgives and continuously draws us in.?

He’s not worried that he will inevitably get hurt by us over and over again. That is a risk he is willing to take. He just wants to show his undying love over and over.

Easter is my favorite time of the year. This season reminds me of the sacrifice Jesus was willing to make for me before I was even born.?

It reminds me of the love that I have access to. Love that seeks to save and not condemn, love that seeks to guide and not leave, love that hopes to make alive and not watch die.?

The love we received at the altar is a love without conditions. A love that is available to us solely on the basis of our humanity. A love that was before we were.?

I know Jesus’ coming has a lot of benefits; for our sins to be wiped away, our sicknesses healed, our deliverance, he was poor so we can be rich, etc.

But first and foremost, he came so we can become closer to the father, so we can experience the love that is God.?

Everyday, I pray to be more like Jesus, to be forgiving, loving and kind. To accept the love available to me and freely give.?

I hope you pray to be like Jesus too. He is our template. He loved us so we can love others, so do that this week.

Go out and show love.
