Easter Edition of City Manager RTRs & Job Board Newsletter (4/1/2024)

I want to clarify something about my weekly list of RTRs because there is a little bit of confusion. But before we do that, I am excited to announce my first newsletter sponsor is MuniReg.

MuniReg: Your solution to abandoned properties

Abandoned properties and "zombie foreclosures" negatively impact every community. You are not alone. To learn more about MuniReg's preventative, proactive and no-cost solutions visit MuniReg.com or contact [email protected]

My focus has been on informing you the reader about separations, transitions, or promotions which will result in a future job opening for city/county managers and ACM/DCMs being created.

For example, I do not list the following situations:

  • When an out-of-work manager has been hired
  • When a first-time city manager is hired unless they were previously serving as an ACM/DCM

These scenarios do not create future recruitments for managers or assistants.

However, some readers have told me that they would be interested in reading a general "comings and goings" list of transitions.

I am curious to get your opinion on this.

Is this something you would like to read about?

To answer your question, I appreciate the RTR newsletter as a way to see upcoming openings, however when the news about the CM profession is often focused on firings, lawsuits, allegations of misconduct, etc. something - a different newsletter or just a feature article now and again - about a CM landing a dream job or someone bouncing back from a firing to get a better gig - would be awesome positive news.? Heck, you could do a Joe's Heroes section every time a first time City Administrator breaks into the profession by getting a small-town C.A. job in rural Kansas. ??

We will miss Paul Kramer in Leavenworth but he leaves behind a great legacy. If you’re a potential candidate, I would love to work for you! We also have a few other leadership roles in Leavenworth including a City Planner, Deputy Public Works Director and Deputy City Clerk. Leavenworth is really a great community. My relatives like to say it’s four hours from anywhere in the Continential 48 because the airport is 20 minutes away.
