EASTER Sitz im Leben
In the Beginning was the Word - Theme and Variation
John 1:1-18?
The Eternal Word
1?In the beginning?was the Word, and the?Word was?with God, and the Word was?God.?2?He was in the beginning with God.?3?All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.?4?In Him was life, and?the life was the light of men.?5?And?the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not?comprehend it.
John’s Witness: The True Light
6?There was a?man sent from God, whose name?was?John.?7?This man came for a?witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might?believe.?8?He was not that Light, but?was sent?to bear witness of that?Light.?9?That?was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.
10?He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and?the world did not know Him.?11?He came to His?own, and His?own did not receive Him.?12?But?as many as received Him, to them He gave the?right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:?13?who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The Word Becomes Flesh
14?And the Word?became?flesh and dwelt among us, and?we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,?full of grace and truth.
15?John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said,?‘He who comes after me?is preferred before me,?for He was before me.’ ”
16?And of His?fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.?17?For?the law was given through Moses,?but?grace and?truth came through Jesus Christ.?18?No one has seen God at any time.?The only begotten?Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared?Him.
Psalm 22 presented in an authentic form [prophecy as song - Hebrew 'minstrel' style song]:
The psalms have a particular character as a part of the worship services. This form is a particularly Hebrew developed 'minstrel’ style? - that shows more respect for the music, the song or story, and the worship, than we would find in medieval European or early US colonial ‘minstrel’ songs..
EASTER 2024
Isaiah was also a prophet who used a very refined form of this poetry.
Isaiah 53
1?Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the?Lord?revealed?
2?For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3?He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4?Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5?But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
6?All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the?Lord?hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7?He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8?He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9?And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10?Yet it pleased the?Lord?to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the?Lord?shall prosper in his hand.
11?He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12?Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb
57?Now?when evening had come, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who himself had also become a disciple of Jesus.?58?This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be given to him.?59?When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,?60?and?laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.
61?And Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the tomb.

Good News Translation
1 ?The people say, "Let's return to the Lord! He has hurt us, but he will be sure to heal us; he has wounded us, but he will bandage our wounds, won't he?
2 ?In two or three days he will revive us, and we will live in his presence.
3 ?Let us try to know the Lord. He will come to us as surely as the day dawns, as surely as the spring rains fall upon the earth."

Isaiah 66 NKJV?
8 Who has heard such a thing?
Who has seen such things?
Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day?
Or?shall a nation be born at once?
For as soon as Zion was in labor,
She gave birth to her children.

Isaiah
King James Version?BibleGateway
55:1-2
1?Ho, everyone that thirsts, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2?Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfies not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
?. . .?
25:6-9
?. . .?
6?And in this mountain shall the?Lord?of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.
7?And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.
8?He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord?God?will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the?Lord?hath spoken it.
9?And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the?Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

There is a Mountain
See Isaiah 55:1-2 , Isaiah 25:6-9 .
LYRICS:
Verse 1:
There is a mountain “only the lame can climb”
There is a table “only the hungry find”
Only the beggar will have the currency
When need is all you need
Verse 2:
There is a victory “only the conquered gain”?
There is a glory that you get when give up your name
Oh the peace when you finally yield your fight
In surrender rise?
Chorus
Come with open hands in need
Come hearts broken, bended knee
“A gift can only be received”
Received
Verse 3:
Come to the mountain, He carries the cripple to the feast
Come to the table, come sit, “He has saved you a seat”
Come and eat and drink without money and without a cost
He has paid it on the cross
Chorus
Bridge:
The King bends low to wash our feet
To give himself as an offering
To lead us home to that wedding feast?
We taste it now, at last we’ll eat
Of that richest food, oh that “well-aged wine”
The shroud will lift, our tears he’ll dry
Come hungry souls be satisfied
Both now and forever
Chorus

coda
I am a song of God. I am a song God is singing. A melody in history, A song that is part of destiny... It may be forgotten in the strains of strife. It may be lost in the symphony of life, like a ripple on the sea. But God will sing the song of me, for this melody is my melody: it is only for me! Not to be sung for any other, Forever,? forever,? forever !
