Easter 2021

It’s Sunday the 4th of April and today, from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, billions of Christians are celebrating the greatest event in human history: the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

Lord I come to You today of all days with fresh hope. Speak to me now as I spend this time with You and let the reality of Your resurrection dispel despair and reawaken the lovesong of my life in you.

Where, O death, is your victory?  Where, O death, is your sting?’The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. 

One of the first Christian communities on earth to welcome the dawn of this day is the Melanesian Brotherhood on the Solomon Islands in Papua New Guinea. They are an Anglican religious order with a very beautiful prayer that celebrates the new light and the new life of this day:

‘Look: the hills and the valleys shine with promisesAnd every burning morning is a prophecy of Christ.He is coming to raise, forgive, and to heal. Open wide your lives and forever love, not fear, those you meet’
