Improvements to the Way We Work

The last few months have provided Jo and Lesley with an opportunity to make some fantastic improvements to the way we work. We have implemented new project management software (WorkflowMax) to track and progress our projects, a new telephone system to communicate better with clients and improve home working for our team, and we have taken on two really experienced team members. All of which put us in a really strong position to take on more new and exciting projects and provide our clients with an even better service.

If anyone would like any information about the systems we have installed, we are happy to share.

Office to Residential Change of Use - The New Challenge?

With the increase in home working as a result of the Covid pandemic, we think that there will be an increase in the number of applications for the Change of Use from office to residential accommodation. This will bring with it challenges to achieve the requirements of Part E of the Building Regulations for sound insulation.

The priority for any developer is to ensure that any construction alterations to a property meet the sound insulation requirements and they get it right first time. Retrofitting acoustic insulation is expensive and can put costly delays onto a scheme.

For sound insulation detailing and testing there is a clear benefit to using an acoustic consulting with experience in identifying the best methods for sound insulating a property, and who can identify the reasons for failures and provide advice to put them right.

Ideally, professional acoustic advice should be sought early on to ensure a coordinated design that meets the sound insulation requirements from the outset. This saves costly remedial work if compliance issues are discovered during the testing and after the building work has finished.

Miller Goodall are members of the Association of Noise Consultants registration scheme for Approved Document E (ADE) and have the experience to provide this work for you. Please get in touch if you would like more information on our sound insulation detailing and testing services.
