EASTER 2020

Easter 2020 will be a celebration that we will never forget with none of the usual trimmings.

We are used to gathering and celebrating the greatest gift a person can receive – Jesus Christ.  Jesus was born and ministered to his flock, was crucified and died for me and you!

Jesus rose on the third day, conquering death, celebrated in Easter.

This year there will be no gatherings, no communion together, no hymns, no palms or lily’s.  No big dinners or family get togethers.

This does not mean we will not or cannot celebrate His great sacrifice and gift!

In the quiet of your heart, you can remember what the Lord has done for you.  You can pray and thank Jesus for all your blessings.  You can watch a DVD of “The Passion of the Christ” or “Behold the Lamb”.

I recall several years ago; I was resetting the props for our passion play “Behold the Lamb” and had to move the cross from the back of the sanctuary to its position on stage.  It was a Tuesday afternoon; I was alone working. The cross is made of 6X6 timbers, it is imposing.  The cross was covered with blood. I carried it and though of my Jesus and what he did. I prayed and thanked God for my salvation and the gifts I had received. It was a powerful moment, a moment that I reflect on often.  All alone and in the quiet of my heart – God’s love came pouring out on me!

This year we can do the same with those around us and remember the days leading up to the time when the stone was rolled away and our freedom was bought and paid for. Remember the crowds cheering as Jesus entered the city. Remember the last supper and Jesus praying with his disciples.  Remember the soldiers arresting Jesus and the trial.  Finally remember the cross and Jesus with nails in His hands and feet. His people were crushed and defeated – but no!  Jesus rose on the third day.

Pray for those who might have been in church this year for an Easter Celebration who might have accepted Jesus in their hearts.  Pray for health and financial well-being for our families, communities, country and world.  Pray Covid-19 treatments are effective and preventative measures work.  Pray for a full recovery for all in the USA and the World.

Another thing we can do is to share Jesus with others.  Share what He has done for you and ask them if they want to share the gift as well.

If any of you do not know the Lord, have not accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you can do it right now!  Simple pray to Jesus – Admit that you are a sinner – Ask for forgiveness – Invite Jesus into your heart – Ask Him to be your savior too. At some point make a public confession that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.  That’s it, you are saved by the precious blood of Jesus.

It's a free gift, you can't earn it - we are by grace alone. All we have to do is accept it!
