This Friday 25th August meet Alan 'Barney Rubble' Kennedy, Gold Medal winners, see unreleased Beatles Film, and much more.

Philip Hayes a volunteer at the New Belve who is spearheading the campaign to save the vital community resource, is made up to announce that Alan Kennedy will be at the New Belve this Friday at 2pm to sign autographs alongside other sports personalities, with opportunities for a selfie.

'Barney' is a former English professional footballer who played as a left back for Liverpool and England. He made over 500 appearances in a career that lasted for 22 years.

Alan Kennedy became the first player to score winning goals in two European Cup finals with goals in the 1981 and 1984 finals, for Liverpool Football Club.

Philip the event organiser said about the announcement,

"I'm a lifelong LFC fan I've had a season ticket in the KOP for decades, so I'm made up to be meeting Alan. It is really kind of Alan to take time out to support a vital community resource, we are truly grateful".

The event begins at 2pm so please come and enjoy home-baked cakes and confectionery, purchase DVDs, CDs, and books- some signed by Howard Gayle and The Singh Twins- generously donated by supporters of the New Belve.


Meet Olympian Boxers.

Anthony Fowler and Courtney Fry two Olympian Boxers who have a deep affection for the New Belve. They are both Gold medal winners at the Commonwealth games. They've won numerous other medals and competitions and gone onto become successful professional boxers. To this day they continue to train at the New Belve.

They will be in attendance with their medals, there will be an opportunity to take a selfie with Anthony, Courtney and other sportsmen.

Renowned Merseyside Artists the Singh Twins have added their voice to the campaign to save in The New Belve in Liverpool's Toxteth district, pictured here with Philip Hayes.

The New Belve is struggling financially so the Singh Twins have very kindly donated two beautifully signed copies of their publication "The Making of Liverpool", which normally retails for £35.00. We are accepting the highest bid for the books. We need to raise funds to keep the New Belve operating,

Philip Hayes said "I will be selling my collages signed limited edition prints of 'Lennon', 'The Cavern' and CREAM, all income from the sales will go to the New Belve's fighting fund.....see an example of my work above being presented to The Singh Twins".


Where is it ?

Situated in the heart of the Toxteth Community Liverpool 8, 'The New Belve' has been providing activities for over 100 years. Toxteth is the UK’s poorest ward.Its Victorian building was fully refurbished and updated in 2006. It offers fully accessible facilities at corporate and community hire rates and it always strive to offer subsidised and even free facilities for children.
