Easing Mental Anxiety

The mind is the lens through which we perceive and interpret reality. Learning to bring our thoughts under gentle control brings enormous benefits. Meditation has a long and celebrated history and seems to have formed a permanent and integral part of the human experience since before the Stone Age. Its universal appeal has led to the development of an extraordinary variety of techniques and disciplines amongst countless societies and civilisations. The legacy of these traditions now provides us with a richly endowed storehouse of knowledge and experience.

It is to these traditions that we turn when we consider the modern benefits of meditation. The techniques encourage us to move into a deep, relaxed state of both mind that provides wonderful insights into the inner worlds of our deeper consciousness. Meditation has been linked to measurable improvements in health and wellbeing as well as increased resistance to the debilitating forces of prolonged stress.

The key is to set aside a few minutes each morning and evening to breathe more slowly and deeply, to let your thoughts calm down and find a peaceful, more balanced state of being. Persistence through daily practice provides extraordinary benefits.
