The easiest way to get started in real estate ..
In my opinion the easiest way to start investing in real estate is to build your network of other investors.??
As the old saying goes, “you become the average of the 5 people you hang around most”.
I remember I was super intimidated to go to my first REIA meeting (Real Estate Investors Association).? I snuck in the back door because I didn’t want to pay the fee to get in (turns out they don’t charge a fee for newcomers anyways).??
I probably understood like 30% of what people were talking about.? People were throwing around terms like “subject to”, “forbearance”, “quit claim” and “expired listings”.??
Although I didn’t understand much, the best thing I did was be sincerely honest with people about where I was at, and what I wanted to do.
“Hey, my name is Ben.? I don’t know much about real estate, but I am wanting to start investing.”
As I did this, I discovered something incredible about the real estate community:
People want to help you!
One of the reasons why I love real estate is because I sincerely believe in the mantra “collaboration over competition”.? I think there are very few industries where everyone is trying to help everyone make money.??

I met some people who were kind enough to spend some time with me, teach me, and help me to do my first real estate deals.??
I really don’t think there’s a need to pay for expensive coaches or consultants.? The thing you really need is a community.?
Go to facebook or meetup.com and find some local real estate meetups to go to.? It might be out of your comfort zone, but you’ll be glad you went.??
Find some investors and LinkedIn or social media, reach out to them, get on a phone call or buy them lunch.? You won’t regret it.?
I am grateful for the people who helped teach me what I know today, and I sincerely feel the obligation to help pave it forward for others.? I’m definitely no expert, but I love when people reach out to me to learn about real estate.??
