Earthquakes and oystercatchers delaying road construction!
The Reykjavík Grapevine
Your essential English-language guide to Icelandic life.
Hello dear readers!
In this week's newsletter we present the latest episode of Futurecast and this time Bala is at a fish farm that is the 4th company he visits that utilizes the warm water that comes from the earth in Reykjanes. A byproduct of the geothermal energy plant that provides the area with electricity.
Speaking of Reykjanes! Many earthquakes in Iceland at the moment. Most of them stem from the Reykjanes peninsula but we also saw an increase in activity to the north and in the center of Iceland during the weekend. You can read more about that by clicking the news link below.
Furthermore, we picked a few other stories from the last couple of days below. One of which is about a pair of oystercatchers that halted a road construction project as referred to in the title. :)
Feel free to check out the Grapevine Store where you can get almost everything you miss from Iceland. Also if you are on your way to Iceland any time soon you can check our Travel site! We only offer tours from fully licensed and trusted tour companies.
