India has already witnessed devastating earthquakes in the past and may witness even higher intensity of earthquakes in the future. Industrial structures are highly vulnerable during seismic events as they are irregular to meet the functional requirements. IS 1893 (Part 4) is addressing the aspects of earthquake resistant design of industrial structures in India.
Recently, BIS has published draft standard of IS 1893 (Part 4) for comments. Following are the details of the document:
