The Earth Is What We All Have In Common: Earth Day

“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” — Native American Proverb

Earth Day is a yearly celebration of the planet's climate and a public awareness campaign about pollution. The day, which falls on April 22, is marked by marches, conventions, outdoor events, and service projects all over the world.

Earth Day is a day set aside each year to consider how the actions affect the environment. People consider new ways to minimize their carbon footprint and improve water quality on this day. They get together and get their hands dirty and make serious efforts to make the world a safer, healthier place to live. Earth Day is a significant day for people to take time out of their busy lives to reflect on humanity's effect on the world and to take action to reduce those impacts.

Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, who died in 2005, suggested the idea for Earth Day. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970, and is generally credited with kick-starting the new environmental movement.

Earth Day is a day for reflection and gratitude for all that the Earth does for us. It's also a good time to reinforce our bonds with nature, give back, and consider how we can help the Earth better serve future generations.
