Earth, Sun, and Us!
What would our life be like without the sun? How would our mornings be without the warmth of the sunrise slowly lighting up the sky? These questions may seem romantic, and everyone could probably provide decisive answers.
Winter is approaching, and the value of the sun and its nostalgic light is significant in all our lives. However, in this article, I want to explore with you the sun itself: where does it come from? What is light? And why, theoretically, would our life on Earth be challenging without the sun?
Where does the Sun come from?
When the child inside me wonders where the sun comes from, the scientific mind, shaped through years of research and study, answers that it's a star born billions of years ago. It's a star with a nuclear core, made mainly of helium and hydrogen, surrounded by gases and rocks of different sizes, at the heart of our solar system, where the Earth dances in orbit throughout the year. Simple yet fundamental answers.
I prefer not to share information we might have learned in elementary school but rather explore another realm - that of mythology, where the sun holds a deeper meaning than we all agree upon.
Perhaps it's a deity watching over us with its comforting warmth? Or maybe it's an overly hot gateway leading to other worlds, dimensions our earthly minds can't grasp?
To answer these questions, I explored writings from ancient civilizations. I found that they saw the sun not just as a bright light in the sky but as something aware of us like it was sending us a secret message with its light. To understand this message, we might need to be a little less proud of what we think we know about ourselves and the universe.
Beyond Vitamin D
Sunlight is like a secret message, but I don't completely get how it works. Even after reading about, it, the details are still a bit mysterious. Inspired by old traditions, I tried something similar. I let the sun touch my body, just chilling without a specific goal and watched what happened. Doing this over and over, I came to a simple realization: the message in sunlight feels like it's adding more life inside me.
When I talk about adding more life, I'm not just talking about the basic science stuff like energy and vitamin D, which are good for bones and cells. It goes beyond that. It's like a kind of communication between what the sunlight wants from me and my own awareness. I think of it as a way to see or understand what's coming next.
Our bodies are also a form of sunlight !
It might seem strange, right? But experience remains the best way to confront what we perceive as ordinary or extraordinary. So, to delve deeper into the analysis, what does it really mean for sunlight to be a message carrying mysterious knowledge, propelling the body towards a more fulfilling life, and opening mysterious windows through which the mind and soul communicate with the distant universe? What did the ancients mean by their sun-related rituals? Or their dances around it during sunrise and sunset, or even during eclipses?
Some might think I'm trying to bring the world back to square one because science has already given us all the necessary information about the sun. Was the wisdom of the ancients just knowledge devoid of scientific thought? Yes, perhaps.
However, in my view, there is an alternative experience that humans can have in their relationship with nature in general. In my opinion, this experience involves not making a distinction between the complex physiological system within us and the various systems around us.
When I tried to let the sun and its light penetrate my being, considering that my body is also a form of sunlight, my thoughts changed, and even my inner feelings evolved. When I opened my eyes, I understood that this experience had to be repeated every time. It's like a necessary ritual to master the art of living within me and around me as well. This is where I find the wisdom of the coded message in sunlight: the sun doesn't just give us light and warm energy, but it's an extension of a pre-existing light within us.
The idea of inner light, in my opinion, is somewhat true, but not in a material way. Our existence goes beyond what we know, beyond our understanding of how the sun works, where it comes from, or why we need it. It's an incomplete knowledge that only becomes whole when each of us releases our relationship with the sun.
How to free our connection with the sun?

In my view, there are many ways, but the first and most important, as I mentioned before, is to give yourself a moment early in the morning, like a moment of reflection, without unnecessary thoughts.
Let the sunlight enter your body without judgment or overthinking. With each new experience, you'll realize you're connecting with the sunlight, and when the sun sets, you'll feel as if you're sitting with it too. I don't know, sometimes I feel like I'm using a way of expressing things that don't quite align with how contemporary people understand, but I carry an identity that goes beyond ecology. I believe we are solar beings. Not in the sense that we come from the stars, as Carl Sagan said, but in a deeper way.
Everything that exists in the universe or that we discover in the universe already exists within us. That's why there's no specific method to uncover this wisdom. The best way is to understand the message of this article and determine for yourself the first step in the experience.
I'm confident that over time, you'll discover another world inside you that will inspire a lot of love, creativity, and courage. The sun will become more than just a shining and setting star; it will become an identity that shines within you when you discover it, and it will never set.
Last words
Regardless of what you learned from this article or what came to mind as you read it, what's important to me is how you feel right now – like a sunny-spirited being.
If it's still daytime where you are, go ahead and open your window or go outside for a walk. Let the sun, through its light, tell you the old story of your existence in this beautiful universe.
