The Earth Is Seemingly Putting on Some Weight, Is It Good?

There was a time when people speculated about what would happen if humans went outside the lines of carbon emissions. Well, for starters, the Earth will become heavier, and its rotation will become slower.

Melting ice across regions like Greenland and Antarctica is adding water to the Earth's surface, causing a redistribution of mass which ultimately slows down the planet's rotating speed.

How is it going to affect us? The Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) has to be regulated constantly given the changes in the Earth's liquid core affect the rotation and hence, the duration of our days and nights. The timekeepers are to either subtract or add leap seconds to keep the 'world clock' accurate.

The author of the study, Duncan Agnew, says "It's kind of impressive, even to me, we've done something that measurably changes how fast the Earth rotates."

It is actually scary to me.

Though it may have postponed the need to subtract leap seconds, it shows the horrendous possibilities that may come with climate change.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has already speculated that 2024 will be the warmest year in 175 years. If that's not concerning, I don't know what is.

If the temperature keeps rising at the same pace, I see nations burning, and nations sinking.
