News from our planting sites

How is Carbon Positive Australia helping our biodiversity hotspots?

At Carbon Positive Australia, we work to protect Australia’s Biodiversity Hotspots through?our land restoration projects?that support our wildlife and ecosystems.

When you plant trees with Carbon Positive Australia, we plant them in Australia’s two biodiversity hotspots. This means that when you plant trees with us, your tree planting has a huge impact.

What is a Biodiversity Hotspot, where are they, and why are they important?

A biodiversity hotspot is a region characterised by significant levels of biodiversity that are under threat from human activity.

These areas have a high concentration of endemic species (meaning species found nowhere else). Conservation International has identified?36 Global Biodiversity Hotspots, which account for 2.5% of the Earth’s land surface but support more than half of the world’s endemic plant species and 43% of all bird, mammal, reptile and amphibian species.

Where are Australia’s two global biodiversity hotspots?
