For Earth Day: GO OUTSIDE. The flowers, the trees, the stream, the sounds. There is perfection and permanence in Nature’s beauty despite the irregularities and changing seasons of our mood. Yet we trap ourselves all day in boxes: dimly lit rooms, speeding cars, slave behind rectangular desks and devices. Outside is a world of magnificent color, the unending awe of geometric shapes and patterns of a divine stylist. Variety and spectacle is everywhere out there, imbuing hope and dimension in the muted soul of modern man. Nature’s grandeur squashes the immensity of our ego; its tranquility soothes our tortured minds; its sensual wonders break through our dispassion; its circle of life frees us from our disconnection. There is no hurry in the eternal patience of Nature, no gossip or drama, no fake fronts or facades, only constant imagery and sound and touch and the wind and clouds pushing into our soul reminding us that we are alive, connected, infinite. Go outside now, honor this Earth, there is beauty and air and perspective and life out there.
