Earning Respect As A Leader

It’s one thing to be a leader on paper, but that alone isn’t enough to make you effective. A leader is nothing without their team. If you want to bring about real change as a leader, it starts with earning your team’s respect. Here are three ways to do that:

  1. Recognize hard work and a job well done. Positive reinforcement will make your team feel appreciated and more comfortable in their positions.
  2. Build a company culture and set of values that unites your team. Ensure that every member of your team is on board and comfortable with the way you do things.
  3. Engage your employees through collaboration, both with each other and with you. As a leader, it’s not your job to dictate orders to your team. Work with them to help them get their work done effectively.
