Earning an income as a UW Partner

Earning an income as a UW Partner

We live in a world where the 9-5 job is no longer the norm and more people are looking for ways to top up their salary, find more flexible ways of working and beat the cost of living crisis. Up and down the country, more and more people are turning to side hustles and second jobs to make ends meet, learn new skills and pursue their passions. This has led to a huge shift in what a career looks like, ushering in a new wave of entrepreneurship and innovation that challenges our traditional ways of working.

At Utility Warehouse (UW), we have long believed in the power of entrepreneurship and helping people get on in life. More than 25 years ago we launched our unique word-of-mouth Partner model and since then, it has enabled tens of thousands of people to start their own business and earn a second income around their main job, other commitments or the school run.

More than 50,000 people across the UK are UW Partners and the numbers are increasing each week. As UW has grown - we have more than 900,000 customers - so has interest in our Partners, some of whom recently caught the attention of national media. We think it’s important to shine a light on what life is like as a UW Partner and to clear up a few misconceptions about what’s exactly involved.?

The role of a UW Partner

As a Partner, you recommend our energy, broadband, mobile and insurance services to your friends and family, helping them to save money on their household bills and in return, you earn a commission for each customer you introduce. You can also help other people become Partners and find new ways to make money from home.?

Partners are not UW employees, but instead self-employed individuals who have the flexibility to work on their terms and earn an income that suits their lifestyle.?

I have seen first hand the impact that our Partner opportunity can have on people's lives. We have Partners who have been able to pay off debts, save for their children's education and manage the increasing cost of childcare, boost their pension pot and achieve greater financial freedom.?

Partner earnings

I'm often asked how much our Partners earn. The simple answer is that it’s down to the individual and the amount of focus and effort they put in.

Partners can earn?in many ways, but it all starts with helping customers switch to UW. We don’t sell customers something they don’t need, rather offering them essential household services they already have with other suppliers. For every customer a Partner helps to switch, we pay an automatic upfront commission of up to £300.

Partners can also earn what we call a residual income - between 1% and 6% of a customer’s bill each month. This continues for as long as that customer remains with UW.?

Additionally, Partners can benefit from customer referrals - Partners can earn up to £300 when one of their customers refers a friend who signs up for multiple services.?

Figures from December 2022 to February 2023 show that average Partner earnings from UW Partners who were active was £488 a month, which is a great extra income for our Partners who work around their existing jobs and commitments. In some cases Partners can earn much more.??

Partners can earn a range of other incentives as well, including chocolates, pizza nights and Christmas hampers. Our top performing Partners can earn weekend trips and retreats in the UK and abroad too. We don’t hand these out readily - Partners need to hit optional targets to achieve them - either by helping people save or helping other people earn money as a UW Partner.

A diverse Partner community

Our Partner opportunity is more than just a way to earn an income. It's about community, support and empowerment. Among our Partners you will find people from all walks of life - nurses, posties, actors, teachers, students, civil servants, police officers and doctors to name a few. No professional qualifications are needed to be a UW Partner.?

They are part of a network of like-minded individuals who are passionate about helping others and making a difference. We support them with ongoing training and mentoring to help them succeed in their new business.

We’ll be hearing some of the inspiring stories behind our Partners at our annual Partner conference later this week in Telford.??

Powering growth in the UK

At UW, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to create a better future for themselves and their families and we are committed to expanding our Partner opportunity to help more people earn extra money.
