This book provides an insight into the early life of Ernest Hemingway in Paris, where, self-admittingly he was "Poor and Happy".
The book chronicles his associations with a number of literary figures and provides an exciting insight into Parisian life in the 1920s.
I enjoyed this book as it involved so many people, places and conversations.... It is an experience in itself
It talks about Hemingway's brief addiction to Horse Riding betting; how Gertrude Stein's friendship provided him ideas and helped him grow as a writer; Scott Fitzgerald, the author of the classic "The Great Gatsby" friendship with Hemingway and stormy personal life with his wife, Zelda, the bookstores and bars of Paris where Hemingway spent his time.
The book also talks about hunger a lot, because as a struggling Journalist and Writer, and as a new father, Hemingway did struggle financially in those days...
