Innovative Partnership for Early Literacy
INNOVATIVE SCHOOL-BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP TO BOOST LITERACY OUTCOMES FOR DISADVANTAGED CHILDREN.
Today we launched a truly innovative program that is being trialed in three schools over the next year. The program combines professional development in literacy instruction for teachers of children in kindergarten to year two, with the provision of books for children from disadvantaged family backgrounds. The project is particularly focusing on meeting the needs of Aboriginal students, students whose first language is not English & students with learning difficulties.
This program also includes workshops for parents of participating students which focus on developing a greater understanding of classroom literacy instruction so parents can better support their children with literacy learning at home!
Dymocks Children's Charities (DCC) is so proud to partner with the Association of Independent Schools of NSW (AISNSW) and NGS Super on this exciting initiative. The partnership was launched today by the NSW Minister for Education, the Hon Adrian Piccoli MP at Parliament House. Also present was the Hon. Leslie Williams MP. Thank you to all for their support.
Dymocks Children's Charities vision is to change kids' lives, one book at a time.
To do this, we enable the development of enhanced literacy outcomes for disadvantaged children in Australia through the delivery of high-quality books of choice to primary and pre-school children.
