Early Childhood Education Matters
Why is poverty particularly harmful to children?
Early child development Children is less protected than adults because they have specific and different needs. It is not easy for a child to get a second chance at an education or a healthy start life. Therefore, nutrition has a critical impact in the child intellectual development capacity.
According to a 2003 empirical study by the University of Bristol and the London School of Economics, seven aspects have determined the affected children in developing countries: adequate food, safe drinking water decent, decent sanitation, facilities, health, shelter, education, and information.
This study concluded that more than half of the children in developing countries suffer of severe deprivation.
Gender discrimination:
The disparities between numbers of girls and boys who have never attended school can explain the rate of discrimination. For example in Haiti it was cultural for girls to stay home and boys to attend school.
This is where the governments and civil societies come into play to give everyone the same right to have access to education, health, nutrition and shelter. All of these aspects have a correlation. International organization may address the issue of sustainability by having the local collectives as more than beneficiaries or recipients of their projects but as active participants.
The better role the organizations could play is to support the parents but, not replace them. Children need the love of their parents to grow mentally.
Children’s education has a direct impact on their adult expectations. Children without an education of quality will end up having a low income while the next generation will follow the same path way.
No children should left behind: How many children who left behind who could make the world a better place for people to live. Every child in the world counts.
I have advocated for children participation where their voice could be heard. Participation is the fundamental right of citizen. From early age children could learn how to participate meaningfully in society.
The article 13 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, ratified by over 100 nations. The child shall have the right to freedom.
Article 13 (Freedom of expression): Children have the right to get and share information, as long as the information is not damaging to them or others. In exercising the right to freedom of expression, children have the responsibility to also respect the rights, freedoms and reputations of others. The freedom of expression includes the right to share information in any way they choose, including by talking, drawing or w
