The Early Bird and What It Means

Well time goes so fast - especially when we have Bank Holiday weekends and it's now just THREE weeks until the next Fear of Success Instructor Training and Summer Solstice Celebration - and it's just ONE DAY left of the early bird discount.
I wanted to share something that might not be relevant for everyone, but as more and more instructors are reading this newsletter I hope you won't mind if I share the thinking behind offering an early bird discount.
There are two big pitfalls when it comes to being a teacher or a coach, and unfortunately a lot of the advice I see online about marketing and sales really falls right into those pitfalls - they are
- using what you know to manipulate other people and
- using what you know to take money from people.
Which means of course that when we step into the marketplace - either to buy, or in my case, to sell, we have to tread very carefully in order not to step into those pitfalls.?
What I am trying to do, with this early bird offer, is to create an early deadline. Many people will jump on the boat at the last minute, race for the train as it is leaving the station. Leave the things that are important and they want to do until the very last minute. And on many occasions... the last minute is too late.?
When I am working as a one to one publishing consultant, there is often no deadline, and so the work of finishing and getting that book out there gets pushed back by one thing after another - sometimes it's life, sometimes it's just procrastination.
So the early bird offer is really there, not to manipulate participants for money, but to challenge, to ask people to make a decision, to commit instead of going backwards and forwards on deciding to attend the training for another three weeks. To take the first step sooner rather than later. Because it's usually the hardest step and that early bird discount is just meant as encouragement rather than manipulation.
I hope that makes sense and I hope it helps any of you who are having challenges in the marketplace, whether you are buying or selling. It really is a tricky space, and an environment where we need to tread carefully.
