Each Day Should Be a Day of Progress, Towards Building Happier and Healthier Communities, Not Just Today

Dear Colleagues, Friends, and fellow member of LinkedIn,

Today is Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday in America. We celebrate, honor, and remember Dr. Martin Luther King Day every year; this day allows all of us an opportunity to reflect on the life, work, and legacy of Dr. King and the many he leads.

I hope each of us takes time to discuss the responsibility we all share with our colleagues, children, family, and friends every day in our workplace and communities we live in. The obligation and duty to live up to the ideals and values that have made our nation so great and one that many other countries and people follow us as a beacon – those of tolerance and respect for others, just Dr. King preached.

Every time I listen to his "I have a dream speech" from August 28, 1963, I get excited and inspired; I recall the progress we have made in the last 58 years and certainly the challenges and progress we still have ahead of us today. America is a great nation because of the diversity of backgrounds, opinions, and beliefs. Our workplace and communities should represent 58 years' progress by leading and creating an inclusive and diverse background that fosters sharing ideas, experiences, and dreams. Our country certainly is not perfect, but we are, or at least it feels we were more tolerant than any other nation. We can only remain great if we stay intolerant of hate; as Dr. King's preached, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that".

We all want the same for our children's and families' future. We all aspire for good health, safety, happiness, and for our families and friends to be well. Each of us has a duty and a responsibility, not just on one day, such as Martin Luther King Day, but every day to increase our commitment to inclusion and tolerance, and diversity in our company, our communities, and our nation by leading as an example of progress.

As a company, as communities, and as humanity, we can only succeed in our mission to build a happier, healthier, and prosperous world if we can help everyone live well and be well if we remain committed to equality, diversity, and progress, brothers and sisters.

Will you join me in progress today and each day?

Respectfully,

K. Cody

Absolutely love this reflection! It's a powerful reminder that the values and teachings of great figures like Dr. King should be integrated daily, not just annually. Echoing the sentiment of recent Forbes contributors, change starts with our actions and mindset every single day. As an old saying goes, we build the future with what we teach our children. Let's all strive for a community that values inclusivity, unity, and progress, not just in words but in daily actions. ?? #ChangeMakers #InclusionInAction #EverydayLeadership

Children are a reflection of their parents. This smart young mind is learning what history and her parents teach.

Ever wonder how the world would be if MLK wasn't assassinated & instead he became President?

Read your article. That’s right only love can deplete the hate the darkness; just like light among us all. If we don’t cherish our diverse backgrounds, ideas we won’t succeed. That’s what makes us a wonderful country where innovation may flourish. Two great thinkers and peace makers.?

My mother always said to be the change we want to see. She also said a child will lead us(has it been 7 years)? It starts by speaking out authenticity. Good seeing you.
