E2D & Charlotte Mecklenburg High School Students Work to Eliminate the Digital Divide

Imagine if CMS high school students were employed to refurbish used laptops that were then made available to households without a computer!
Imagine no more. E2D is making that happen at two, soon to be three labs located at CMS high schools: West Charlotte, Garinger and soon South Mecklenburg. E2D's mission is to ensure that all students have affordable access to essential at-home technology and digital literacy training to support academic success and prepare students for college, careers, and beyond. Learn About E2D.
I had the opportunity to visit the Garinger lab with founder Pat Millen and E2D Board member Jon Olin. The student leaders are proof of the talent and capabilities that exist in all segments of our community. Student employees gain tangible workforce, leadership and teaming skills, while helping narrow the digital divide.
Help strengthen our region's economy by investing in Charlotte Mecklenburg's human capital. If your business or organization has decommissioned computer technology that can be re-purposed for student use, please contact at [email protected] or call 704.657.0408.
