E06: Lead Lists & Saved Searches – Automate Your Prospecting

Welcome back to another edition of The Sales Nav Filter Series - Know Your Filters!?

In this episode, we will look at how you can streamline your prospecting with Lead Lists and Saved Searches.?

Once you know how to use them correctly, you can be assured that no prospect slips through the cracks.

What Are Lead Lists & Saved Searches?

  • Lead Lists are the lists of prospects you save directly in the LinkedIn Sales Navigator.?

You can create and organize your lead lists specific to categories, like industries, regions, or job titles.

  • Saved searches are a Sales Navigator feature that allows you to save your search criteria, and you can run that search quickly whenever you need.

Let’s look at each in detail, starting with the Lead lists.


How to Create Lead Lists in Sales Navigator

Step 1: On the Sales Navigator homepage, click the Leads option.?

You can see the Lead/Account Lists once you have created them.

Step 2: Click Create Lead/Account list.

A pop-up will appear where you can enter your List Name and Description, then click Create.

You can also create lists directly from your search results!

Here’s how:?

1?? Find Your Leads

If you have closely followed the Filter series, you must now be good at using the Sales Nav filters.?

It's now time to put all those tips into action to identify the right prospects.!

2?? Save to Lead List

Once you have applied the filters and have your lead list on the screen,?

  • Click on the Save button next to a lead's profile.

  • In the menu, choose to Create a new list and add them to the newly created list.?

You can also add them to an existing Lead List, if any.


How do you edit and delete lead/account lists?

Edit a Lead List:

  • Go to the Leads page, then select the Lead lists tab (or Accounts for account lists).
  • Click the three dots (...) button on the right-hand side of the list you want to edit.
  • Select View list info.
  • Modify the list name or description as needed.

Delete a Custom List:

  • Once you head to the Lead/Account lists tab, click the three dots (...) button on the right-hand side of the list you want to delete.
  • A pop-up window will appear asking if you want to:?

  1. Delete the list, but keep the saved leads/accounts?
  2. Delete the list and unsave the leads/accounts.

  • Choose your option and click Delete list.

Next, let's talk about Saved Searches in Sales Navigator.


How to Set Up Saved Searches

Think of Saved Searches as your custom list that is always up to date!?

You will be notified when new prospects or accounts match your Saved Search criteria.?

It’s like having Sales Navigator work for you 24/7!

1??Step 1 is always to get your search right! Refine your search to create a targeted list of leads.?

2??Once you are happy with the search results, enable the toggle “Save search to get notified of new results” in the top left corner, just above the Sales Nav filters.

3??You will now see a tiny pop-up like this at the bottom left corner.

4??Click on Manage saved searches to edit the search details, if any.


Where to Find Saved Searches in Sales Navigator?

Once you’ve saved your searches, here’s how you can access them:

  1. Saved Searches: Click “Saved Searches” at the top right of the Sales Navigator homepage.

  1. Lead or Account Search Pages: You can also find your saved searches on the Lead or Account search pages. Just click on the Saved Searches present next to the Keyword search bar.


How do you edit and delete Saved searches?

In the Saved Searches window, select the Pencil icon to edit the details of the Saved Search or Delete the Saved Search.


How to Use Saved Lead Searches to Generate Leads?

Now that you know Saved Searches are updated weekly, let me share how you can use this feature to connect with great leads!

Note these magic filters that can help you spot warm leads when combined with Saved Search.

? Following your company shows the lead is interested in your brand.

You can reach out to them by saying:

Hey {First Name}, 

I just noticed you started following our company—I appreciate that! 

What caught your interest?        

? Viewed your profile shows the lead is curious about you. It is the perfect time to connect!

Hey, {First Name}, saw you visited my profile—thanks for stopping by! 

What’s on your mind? 

Let’s connect!        

? Changed jobs tell you that the lead has joined a new role. Congrats messages work well in this scenario.

Hi {First name},

Congrats on your new role! How’s the transition?        

? Posted on LinkedIn and Mentioned in the news – These two filters can be a great conversation starter and an icebreaker by engaging with their thoughts.

For best results, create separate Saved Searches for each of these filters.?

How to Export Saved Searches in Sales Navigator?

Sales Navigator is an excellent tool for finding leads, but there’s one limitation -? it doesn’t allow you to export leads directly.?

However, you can use a third-party automation tool like SalesRobot to export your saved searches in Sales Navigator.

?Sales Navigator allows only 50 Saved Lead Searches and 50 Saved Account Searches.?
