E-LEADERSHIP APPROACHES TO MITIGATE WORKPLACE ISOLATION IN DISTRIBUTED SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT

I, Emilyn M Dale, am a doctoral candidate in the School of Business and Technology at Capella University and invite you to participate in my Capstone project. The purpose of my project is to identify forward-looking e-leadership approaches that overcome the challenge of workplace isolation and its adverse impact on employee well-being within virtual software development team environments in the United States using a nationwide expert panel of consultants. This project will also determine the extent to which consensus can be achieved regarding the desirability and feasibility of these e-leadership approaches.

You are being invited to join an expert panel based upon your knowledge regarding remote software development teams, without regard to your current employer or workplace and the practices used at those sites.

Criteria to be a Participant:

You can be a participant if you meet the following criteria:

  1. Participant must currently work full-time and on distributed software development team.
  2. Participant must have been working full-time on a distributed software development team for a minimum of 5 years.
  3. Participant must currently work in a leadership role that requires him/her to manage projects and/or teams.
  4. Participant must have been in a leadership role managing software development projects and/or teams for a minimum of 7 years.

Online Survey Format and Time Commitment:

Should you choose to participate, you will be asked to complete four rounds of online surveys generated in SurveyMonkey over an estimated 8 weeks. You will be given one week from the time of distribution to complete each survey round. Depending upon the survey round, the time to complete each should take between 5-15 minutes, based on your level of effort. You may withdraw from the project at any time without penalty.

Benefit of the Project:

The expected benefits of the project include desirable and feasible e-leadership approaches that can mitigate workplace isolation in distributed software development teams. A copy of the approved project summary will be provided to the participants upon completion.

How to Participate and Start Date:

Please email me with your preferred email address if you are interested in being a participant in this project for notifying you the start date of the first round and each of the subsequent rounds. Your email may indicate your identity; however, your email will not be shared with any other participants. At the end of the project, all emails will be removed from the dataset and only unique identification codes will be referenced. Participants will self-select into the survey as I am accepting in good faith your eligibility, interest, and commitment for being a participant.

You may recruit and share the survey link to other eligible individuals to participate in the project. Please use the following SurveyMonkey link to take the survey:?
