?? E-commerce rebounds ahead of peak season on surging global demand

Latest data from Airwallex found international sales rose 80 per cent last quarter as retailers used overseas markets to drive growth.

Third-quarter data from Airwallex’s Digital Economy Index showed a 16.4 per cent year-on-year increase in online spending from consumers, and over an 80 per cent spike in international sales.

?? How retailers plan to spend on vendors and tech in 2025

Digital Commerce 360's 2025 Leading Vendors to the Top 1000 Retailers Report breaks down rankings and budget priorities for the most successful ecommerce websites. Survey results are in, and retailers place to spend more on vendors and technology for their ecommerce websites in the year ahead. In fact, 63% of online merchants surveyed expect to spend more in 2025 than they did in 2024.

?? Amazon plans to expedite launch of quick commerce service 'Tez'

Amazon India will reportedly launch its quick commerce, tentatively named Tez, by December 2024 or early next year. According to a report by The Economic Times, the platform is gearing up to launch the offering in India sooner than the end of the first quarter. It will mostly offer groceries and daily essentials.

?? 4 in 10 shoppers say high costs prevent eco-friendly purchases

About 40% of consumers cited high prices as a deterrent to purchasing sustainable products, according to a report by Euromonitor International. The report said that whilst two-thirds of consumers are concerned about climate change, only 15% are willing to pay extra for eco-friendly food and drink.

?? Why stores still spark joy around the holidays

Online shopping has surged over the years, but it’s hard to replicate the discovery — and fun — of going to stores.

The pandemic accelerated e-commerce growth and forced many retailers to close stores, but four years later, physical stores are thriving. Foot traffic has returned to near 2019 levels, vacancies are fewer, and younger generations are embracing in-store shopping, though often for browsing or returns rather than direct purchases. This shift highlights a new purpose for stores beyond transactions.

?? As retailers enter the holiday shopping season, the winners are pulling away from the pack

- Retailers’ earnings reports over the past two weeks have illustrated a sharp divide between brands that are winning sales and those that are missing out.

- As shoppers have less money to go around, they are cutting out weaker retailers, said Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail.

?? 60% FMCG companies say e-commerce is critical platform for sales: NielsenIQ

In 2024, the fastest-growing online categories are ready-to-eat products, salty snacks, and refined edible oils, according to NielsenIQ. E-commerce has become the "most critical" sales platform for at least 60% of fast-moving consumer goods companies, with medium-sized businesses leading at 67% and small businesses at 51%.

??Have a good and productive week ahead!
