Dynamics NAV Certification Exams on their way Back!
We all understand the importance in ongoing professional education. Whether through webinars, blogs, or even trial and error, learning is the only way for us to better ourselves while bettering the NAV community. Although our network of individuals and partners is highly involved in the educational efforts of the community, one of the best tools for learning and ensuring standards has been discontinued as of late – the certification program and exams for Dynamics NAV and Dynamics GP.
An ambitious group of professionals has taken it upon themselves to ensure that individuals can become certified experts in NAV and to provide for recognition of knowledge and expertise in the product and its use and application. The recently organized Association of Dynamics Professionals (aka Dynamics Pro) (www.dynamicspro.org) is an organization whose primary purpose is to create a Dynamics oriented association that brings Dynamics professionals together. One of their first priorities is redesigning the NAV exam and credentialing program – and they are determined to do so. As Microsoft discontinued this program last year, this group found importance in providing multiple levels of credentials instead of just one overall exam for Microsoft Dynamics NAV and GP. This learning model better supports the complexities of ERP software, especially those where partners have access to the development environment.
To provide some background, the credentialing council within Dynamics Pro (#DynamicsPro) is dedicated to promoting and administering the Association’s credentialing and certification programs. The council will provide oversight and strategically guide the development and delivery of the Association’s credentialing/certification programs. They will also define the purpose of the programs, develop and validate the content of the programs, and collaborate with staff and other committees to promote the program. Even with all these goals in mind, the initial objective of Dynamics Pro is to get the Dynamics NAV and GP Financials Certification exams as well as the Dynamics NAV and GP Installation and Configuration exams ready for the first exam sittings by September 2015 for GP and October 2015 for NAV.
What can you do and how can you get involved?
Dynamics Pro is just getting started with this process but has already reviewed and defined a list of question categories for each exam, which can be found on their website. They are looking to propel the process by asking NAV community members to submit exam questions and will be using a crowdsourcing approach in the exam creation, so that is why exam question submissions are vital from both partners and users. The Exam Writers website provides more information and tools, which include a registration form, webinar on how to write questions, release form, template for writing questions, and “how to” questions. An exam committee will review all submissions, provide editing, and make selections for the bank of questions for future exam use.

9 年Thank you all for your comments and feedback. The Association of Dynamic Professionals (Dynamics Pro) is hoping to create an individual credential that individuals can showcase regarding their dedication, commitment and skills to the practice area. While there may be have been flaws in the MS exam process in the past, the association is looking to create 3 levels of credentials - the first level being exam completion, the second level (Advanced) and third level (Master) who require more education, years of experience, as well as some method of demonstrating the application of knowledge beyond passing an exam. These level requirements are still under review. As a Partner or as an individual, the benefit could be in how you utilize these credentials to show your individual or organizational commitment to your ERP product and proficiency. I think one difference the Association is learning is that there are cultural differences and perceptions of credentials in general in difference regions of the globe. In the US, the Project Management Institution (PMI) has a PMP credential. The International Institute of Business Analyais (IIBA) has a CBAP credential. These are widely accepted and recognized in the US as demonstrating proficiency in their disciplines. While in the past, ERP exams around NAV or GP may not have had this believe, we are hoping to foster this thinking. The Association will also be a body for identifying practice standards, education, and other areas in addition to credentials which is only one part of the Association's charter. The Association is very early in development and we appreciate the feedback.
Your Vision, Our Mission
9 年To be honest I don't see the benefit for me and my company aswell. My impression about the certification process before 2015 was that it's just needed for the partner status. I never had a customer which elected the partner based on that. For the individual nav expert it might made sense but as it was so expensive it was nearly not offortable for a private person. What is the price range for your certifications / trainings? And most important what is the benefit for me as a Microsoft partner ?
