Dying Without the Truth

    As my home state legislature of California is preparing to declare war on the Word of God I am left with the following thought:

    What is the result of yielding to the devil’s lies in this war on the Word? This broad path leads to only one destination: death. The Bible states, “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate” (Genesis 3:6 NASB).

    Elsewhere, the Scripture clearly teaches that the sin of one man became the sin of the entire world (Romans 5:12). Death entered the world through the sin of this one man, Adam, and the entire human race became guilty of this one act of disobedience to the Word of God. Disobedience always leads to death----physical, emotionally, spiritually, and eternally.

    Simply put, any departure from the Scripture is a departure from God Himself. No individual or group can survive this. This is the war on the Word, and the consequences and ramifications of this war are eternal. The Word of Truth is water that washes, cleanses, and renews, and apart from this Book (The Bible), there is no salvation and no sanctification.

   In our moment in human history, we must advance and hold the battle line secure for the next generation. We must be fully engaged as this war on the Word rages, seeking to uphold the standard of sound words and earnestly contend for the faith. May God give us, His people, renewed confidence in the authority and infallibility of this pure and perfect Book, the written Word of God.
