Building automation systems (BAS) are computer-based control systems used to automate and manage various building systems and operations, such as heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, security, and energy management. The aim of these systems is to improve the efficiency, safety, and comfort of a building's occupants while reducing energy consumption and operating costs.
BAS can be designed to meet the specific needs of different types of buildings, from small offices to large commercial buildings and industrial facilities. Airports are a great example of a large complex building divided into numerous areas, and again with several smaller units located within those. Monitoring and controlling sensors for filters, temperature, airflow and building energy usage are everyday processes being maintained by the BAS that ensure safety for travellers and efficiencies for all systems.
Runway pollutants from burnt aircraft fuel as well as other environmental pollutants can pose health concerns if not managed properly. The condition of the filtration system as well as the demand for treated air throughout the day is more important in an airport than in many other building applications.
Differential Pressure Switches, such as the #Dwyer ADPS Series and EDPS Series can be used to allow for the maximum control of variable speed fans, while also maximizing the efficient use of energy and monitoring the performance of the local filters on the commercial units.
