Between the public speeches and where the rubber meets the road

As progress in all these areas strengthens world trust, we could proceed concurrently with the next great work -- the reduction of the burden of armaments now weighting upon the world. To this end we would welcome and enter into the most solemn agreements. These could properly include:

1. limitation, by absolute numbers or by an agreed intenational ratio, of the sizes of the military and security forces of all nations.
2. A commitment by all nations to set an agreed limit upon the proportion of total production of certain strategic materials to be devoted to military purposes.
3. International control of atomic energy to promote its use for peaceful purposes only and to insure the prohibition of atomic weapons.
4. 4. a limitation or prohibition of other categories of weapons of great destructiveness.
5. The enforcement of all these agreed limitations and prohibitions by adequate safegguards, including a practical system of inspection under the United Nations.

He has a few things to say about war and peace. In peace one must prepare for war. No empire can sustain wars after wars, and will soon crumble into rubbles.

At the micro level, all martial artists with a good teacher will learn to avoid fighting. My kung fu teacher, was willing to teach us everything from stick to knife. Yet, he is always adament about avoiding fight. The main reason being, it is nearly impossible to fight an opponent without getting hit yourself. In a knife fight, you will get cut or stabb. That's just statistics at work, not a belief or superstitions.

The US being the world greatest military might, held world peace in the palm of its hand. Sadly, it sold the world into slavery to make a few men rich. Now the the upcoming generations must pay the cost of greed from the previous generations. Billions of lives has to pay, to for a few bad men to make a few more dollars that they do not need.
