Botnets use your devices to scam other people or cause disruptions — all without your consent.

Think about that small box called "cameras" you got in Best Buy years ago, or maybe you got it from a "cameras guy" who is just specialized in cameras and alarms, so nothing to do with your "IT stuff". And of course, your IT person or company, ... "we don't do cameras!".
