Duties of a "door"

We love furniture as it gives you comfort.. yes. Imagine a day sitting on very unsuitable chair. But few items go even further. for example.... if king does not sit on a "throne" it will be difficult to communicate his power to the audience.

The color of your sofa says a lot about your taste... and so on. it's no magniloquence to say furniture does so much to your body & soul that we simply romance it.

Entrance door is one such item. It has been visiting card of your home since ages. Doors of fort protected kingdoms from enemy attacks, doors of shrines gave peace to the pilgrims...

The world progressed and duties of our favorite entrance door have become more diverse and complicated.

Earlier it was enough to just protect its master, than gradually it had to look good also. things started to become even more difficult when it had to keep it weight in check. For a very long period of time this was enough for a door.

But at the dawn of 21st century door has to learn few more tricks...& these are pretty drastic....the door is made of wood which is a fuel... but door is supposed to be fire rated. it is finished like glass but has to give raw feel. Some times it has to provide ventilation and be sound barrier another time... it has to be tough on intruders but easy on kids & pets... 

BUT our good old door is keeping pace with the ever increasing duties...
