Durrant Group, Inc. – Des Moines

The Durrant Des Moines offices were one of the earliest renovations during the Des Moines Historic East Village neighborhood's transformation, was located adjacent to the Iowa State Historical Museum, and enjoyed a stunning view of Iowa's State Capitol from one of the new conference rooms. Durrant, a national architectural / engineering firm with offices across the country including (2) in Hawaii, was based in Dubuque, Iowa beginning in the early 1930s and had a lengthy domestic and international practice. While serving as Durrant's Senior Lighting Designer I was the primary advocate for occupying the unused Scandia Buildings in the East Village. I contacted the Scandia property owners in late 2003, and the new Durrant Des Moines offices were opened in 2005. This project is a feature on the AIA Iowa's “Century of Iowa Architecture” webpage:
