During these trying times...

An Open Letter from Stephen Kowalchuk
There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, and no argument can be made that alongside the global pandemic, there is underlying global anxiety. While for many things appear bleak, I know in my heart and my gut that we will come out of this better and more durable. As human beings, we persevere. We always have. We always will.
I read a comparison of the Coronavirus pandemic to the events of World War Two recently. How no other event in history had gone on to shape the way we live our lives, and the way we do business.
World War Two marked the beginning of trends that took decades to fully develop, including technological disruption, global economic integration, and digital communication. The United Nations was formed with the stated purposes:
· To keep peace in the world
· To develop friendly relations among nations
· To help nations work together to improve the lives of poor people, to conquer hunger, disease, and illiteracy, and to encourage respect for each other's rights and freedoms
· To be the center for harmonizing the actions of nations to achieve these goals
Great things have come from great adversity. These days I’m constantly referencing the Winston Churchill quote, "A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty. “
Change is inevitable and also uncomfortable. This is true personally, professionally, and even geographically. But there is one thing for sure, these events will bring about significant change. We'll see business done differently; we'll see new business appear.
During these times, we can’t lose heart. We can’t lose hope. I am an optimist and believe that we will emerge wiser, stronger, and more unified than ever.
Treasure the time you have with family. Learn a new skill. Take time to enjoy the little things. Perhaps even take back up that hobby you’ve been putting off. Business will survive. The Real Estate industry will bounce back, as it always has and be more robust than ever. Those with the best practices in place will thrive and survive.
As always, I am here for you. As a colleague and advisor. But I can also be a sounding board or a friend in these trying times. Don’t hesitate to reach out.
I wish you all the best and am hoping all of your families are safe and well.
Sincerely,
Stephen Kowalchuk
