Material Science
Low Thermal Conductivity
DuPont? Vespel? SP-22 and SCP-5050 components have approximately 50 to100 times lower heat transfer coefficient versus traditional carbon graphite components which can minimize or eliminate checks and micro-cracks in the glass containers. This lowers rejects and increases productivity.
High Impact Resistance
After aging for 100 hours at 600°F (315°C), DuPont? Vespel? SP-22 and SCP-5050 components exhibit 70 to 100% higher impact resistance than carbon graphite parts. This leads to reduced breakage of components in fabrication, handling and operation which extends the life of contact parts, increase process reliability and lowers operation costs.
Reduced Oil Absorption
In 24 hour immersion tests DuPont? glass-grade components were found to absorb 30 times less oil than carbon graphite parts to no oil absorption whatsoever. This may lead to reduced checking and increased yield to reduce operating costs.
Less Wear for Longer Life
Test results show three times less wear versus carbon graphite at 600°F (315°C) in oscillatory conditions. In addition, glass container plants have reported Vespel? SCP-5050 components to have a 2 to11 times longer life over carbon graphite take-out inserts. This translates into significantly longer life of consumables to increase production efficiency.

components, a new product innovation, are the optimal choice for either long runs at high speeds or heavier containers that require maximum life of contact parts with minimum operation disruption.
