Dundee Rail Station

Dundee Rail Station

Curtis Moore are delighted to have been awarded the fa?ade cladding work on the new Dundee Rail Station by main contractors Balfour Beatty.

The £28m railway station is being constructed as part of the £1 billion redevelopment of the entire Waterfront site by Dundee City Council.

The six-storey development will include a triple height ground floor incorporating a passenger concourse, ticketing facilities, a café/restaurant and retail space and three additional floors above the concourse to accommodate a new hotel.

The new station has been built on the site of the existing concourse which is a 1960s extension to the original Victorian station buildings.

It has been designed by architects at Nicoll Russell Studios and the redevelopment of the railway station as a whole is being led by Fergus Wilson, Dundee City Council’s chief engineer.

Scope of works…

The scope of works carried out by Curtis Moore includes the complete external rain-screen system, supplied by James & Taylor.

Andrew Devlin, Managing Director at Curtis Moore said: “We are thrilled to be working alongside Balfour Beatty on the Dundee Rail station project as part of the regeneration of the Waterfront in Dundee.”

The two-year construction project which started winter of 2015 will be delivered over the railway line and will allow normal train services to continue with completion due winter 2017.

We commence works in January 2017, with an expected 8-month duration.

Really wonderful and uplifting to see all the new developments happening in my home city just now, probably long overdue but still very welcome nonetheless.

Incredible that such a bland design, commissioner by the equally bland local authority , will totally obscure and indeed dominate the groundbreaking V&A Museum, which is supposed to be the saving grace in this great city.
