In some job search situations, you can afford to make many mistakes, and it will still be easy to find a good job.
Like in 2019, when there were true candidate shortages to fill senior staff, management, and executive roles.
But in 2022, there are 10 times more job seekers than jobs, plus warning signs of recession. In this environment, when you're age 40+, making dumb mistakes like this stall your search and cause you to lose opportunities.
And almost all job seekers in their 40's, 50's and 60's make this dumb mistake.
You and almost all of your age 40+ competitors make the same error, because it's been taught by most career coaches, authors, outplacement firms, and used by resume writers for most job seekers your 40's, 50's, and 60's.
You've been given false reasons to include this mistake into your resume - You've been told if you fail to do this, Applicant Tracking Systems will screen you out because of your age.
What's this mistake?
Excluding information to try and hide your age ... almost eveyone over 40 does it, but it usually hurts and rarely helps your job search.
HR departments, because it's their job to keep their companies compliant with hiring laws, don't allow their recruiters to screen candidates based on dates. This is a search on a database of resumes, so it leaves digital evidence of age discrimination - exactly what the HR department is supposed to prevent (mistakes that get HR executives fired).

But resumes that hide information?can?be screened out by recruiters,?can?be easily seen in visual resume screening, and?forms a false first impression?that you won't be able to support face-to-face (or on Zoom). Your best case scenario is still a disaster, because you can't win a job when an employer realizes you hid your age (what else are you hiding)?
And it's not just dates, it's your early career also. Guess who else hides chunks of time from employers ... people with bad things to hide (Like ex-cons and people who have committed theft or fraud). Do you really want your resume to give this impression to employers?
So why are you excluding dates and early career on your resume?
You're following bad advice.
