I had the privilege yesterday to play what will undoubtedly be one of the Top 100 links courses in the world in record time! Dumbarnie Links was in absolutely fantastic condition and it’s not even due to open to the public until May 2020. And when the course does open I am certain the accolades will be numerous and well deserved. The course was designed by former Ryder and Walker Cupper Clive Clark and with the help of renowned shaper Paul Kimber and his team they have produced a top class links course to rival all of the classics. The course is located between Lundin Links and Elie on the south coast of Fife looking over to East Lothian and in fact the 1st hole at Dumbarnie points directly to Muirfield and Gullane! As with many golf courses it can be said the short holes are what makes a course memorable and this is no exception at Dumbarnie as they have 4 real beauties! Much earth and sand was moved to create this golf course but the result looks like the holes have been cut through dunes which have been there for ever. Each hole has 5 sets of tees so the test can be enjoyed by all levels of golfer – and off the tips it is around 7600 yards so no doubt in years to come some kind of tour event may find its way the this newest and classic addition to Scotland’s already wonderful golfing landscape. We will certainly be recommending Dumbarnie as a ‘must play’ to the hundreds of clients we bring to Scotland each year.

 As for yesterday I had a great game with new Morton Golf owner Dave Kerr and Stephen Owen who is the GM at the beautiful Rufflets Hotel, St Andrews – see photo above.
