Be Dumb As A Rock!

As a verifiable part of being human, we embody, a natural need or desire to try to influence, or, at the very least, make some sort of impact on the situation. We, usually are unwilling to recognize just how self-absorbed we really are. We are self-vested in our interests and intentions. We aim to make our words count for something to somebody. Little do we realize, we are filled with guile and the one who falls under the spell of that crafty, clever willfulness is us! Why d...o we do this? Of course, we would like to stand up and testify, “It’s not so. I care about the people I am talking to. I am not interested in changing their minds or guiding them down a specific path with a truth I believe.”
But, nothing could be further from the actuality of what’s really taking place. We certainly don’t want to be caught off guard. We don’t want to be proven wrong or look like an uniformed fool. We have some sort of innate need to protect ourselves from being embarrassed, ridiculed or disrespected. But, a slight difficulty arises in the meantime. We become self-righteous jerks!
Because we so precariously cherish and defend our ideas, beliefs and traditions, (which we have carefully and studiously honed to a fine art and science), we blind ourselves by refuting what may in fact, release us from our unyielding character. In spite of not having those precious concepts dishonored in any way, we have developed an inflexible accelerated flammable, volatile, rigid, stale, condescending, disparaging, arrogant, superior, demonic attitude. Not a pretty sight for us or others!
But, the imminent question begs for our attention IF we would be willing to open our minds to the possibility that there may be something more going on than we are currently are aware of? Moreover, are we ready to expose a truth so powerfully liberating and emancipating {I’m talking: not even being able to hide behind our callous and unsympathetic motives) that we would never again try to hide it from ourselves, again?
On the surface of that liberating truth showers the unquestionable rain that we have no right to interfere in the business of others! Ever. The sense of urgency associated with the stated withdrawal from the business of others remains unequivocally certain. Capturing the inexpressible beauty released when experiencing this truth for oneself will vanish before we can comment.
With this apparent departure of interest in other people’s business or affairs will arise a decrease in personal ambition, jaunted competition, delirious comparison and any need to demonstrate ‘special’ abilities or talent. To sum it up in such-simple but astounding words-,I heard one time in passing, “Be Dumb as A rock.” I wonder, IF (without even trying to, if we can ever be still enough) to do that!
