Dulwich Hamlet commercial manager Liam Hickey confirmed as guest speaker for AtTheMatch Business & Sport Networking Event
AtTheMatch are delighted to announce our very Club Member Liam Hickey, Commercial Manager and recently appointed Chairman of Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, will be our guest speaker at our July Business & Sport Networking Event.
Dulwich Hamlet play in the Isthmian Premier Division, English football’s seventh tier, and have made headlines across the country with their high-rising attendances. In the last four years, their average home crowd has more than tripled.
A crowd of 2,249 watched them beat Enfield Town last season, with ‘The Hamlet’ averaging crowds at Champion Hill of just under 1,500.
It helps having an attractive style of play for a packed crowd to watch. Supporter numbers have surged from a figure of about 250 when Gavin Rose first became manager in 2009.
Every year the club has achieved a better finish than the season before under his stewardship, earning plaudits for the attractive way in which the manager demands the game be played.
There were many times last season when Dulwich’s home crowd exceeded that of clubs in League One and League Two, surpassing Scottish Premier League crowds, too.
For the upcoming season, the club have also agreed a record five figure sum shirt sponsorship deal Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, one of London’s leading independent property services groups.
Commercial manager Liam Hickey has said: “Every business needs to learn to communicate with its audience. Dulwich is doing that, making itself a part of its community, instead of just being a club that sits on the outside, just playing football.
“Social media is a massive part of that. A lot of clubs don’t do it very well. But competitive pricing and sending out the right message are crucial, too. We are trying to do the right things and send out the right message.”
