Dudhsagar Waterfall Welcomes Tourists with Thrilling Jeep Safaris in Goa

After a brief seasonal hiatus prompted by monsoon safety concerns, the renowned Dudhsagar waterfall in Goa is once again ready to enchant visitors.

The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is not only recommencing tourist activities but is also introducing an exciting new element: jeep safaris, which promises to add an extra dimension of excitement to this natural wonder.

New Online Booking System

In a recent announcement during an event celebrating the revival of tourism in Kullem, GTDC Chairman Ganesh Gaonkar unveiled the launch of an online booking system for all activities related to Dudhsagar waterfall. He also called upon local panchayats to collaborate in the digitization effort, emphasizing the commitment to improving facilities for both tourists and jeep operators.

Jeep Safari Season Commences

The start of the jeep safari season at Dudhsagar traditionally falls on the 2nd of October each year. To protect the delicate ecosystem, a quota system has been implemented to regulate the number of jeeps permitted into the sanctuary.

On weekdays, approximately 170 jeeps are granted access, a number that increases to 225 on weekends. This controlled approach helps minimize disruptions to indigenous wildlife and ensures a harmonious flow of vehicles through Dudhsagar's captivating forested landscape.

A Lifeline for the Local Economy

Tourism at Dudhsagar has emerged as the primary source of income for local residents, particularly in the wake of nearby mine closures.

Each registered jeep operator affiliated with the Forest Department can accommodate about seven passengers, charging INR 500 per passenger, resulting in a total fare of INR 3500 per journey. This not only bolsters tourism but also sustains the livelihoods of those in the region.
