What inspired Tom to work for Dublin Bus?
Tom explains, “When l left school, l worked for my dad and his brothers in the family business in Bray installing suspended ceilings around Ireland and did that for a few years. I decided l needed a career change and was always interested in art. I completed a two-year graphic design course at DIT Bolton Street. After the course, l worked at Buy and Sell classified adverts paper as an in-house Graphic Designer and was with them for approximately fourteen years until they closed in 2014”.
He added, “I worked with Paul McDaid Graphic Design Executive at Dublin Bus, when we were both in Buy and Sell. When Paul left, he joined Dublin Bus, and we stayed in touch. When l was made redundant, l contacted Paul to inquire if the company was hiring, and luckily, they were hiring a Graphic Designer at that time and l jumped at the chance to join the company. I also have friends and family in Bray who are bus drivers, so l knew it would be a great company to join.”
“l progressed onto Graphic Design within the Information and Marketing Department, and two years ago, l was promoted to my current role,. Due to BusConnects, our team has grown exponentially to get the project over the line.”

Interests
“Since moving from Bray to Wexford, I have taken up bass shore fishing along the many beautiful beaches on the Wexford coastline. I also enjoy the outdoors and challenging walks. I find it is great for your mental health and well-being just getting outside away from screen time. You will always see me up Tara Hill in Wexford on summer evenings or early weekend mornings”.
Tom enthusiastically adds, “In 2010, I completed a charity trek to Everest Base with a group of 15 others. To say this was challenging is an understatement. Still, the sense of achievement in making it to the final destination was fantastic, as a few of the group members were not so lucky and got altitude sickness along the way. When time allows, I play some golf in Ballymoney, and the rest is spent with family”.
