Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai offers luxury beachside accommodation within a ten-minute drive of the Dubai World Trade Centre
Located on the exclusive Pearl Jumeirah island, Nikki Beach Resort & Spa Dubai offers luxury beachside accommodation within a ten-minute drive of the Dubai World Trade Centre. Much like other Nikki resorts, the Dubai hotel has an all-white decor, a swimming pool with a swim-up bar, plush sunbeds, and enclosed and open cabanas – a setting that’s perfectly suited to the brand’s legendary lavish parties. Unique to this branch, however, are the panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and Dubai skyline, and a 450-metre private beach.
Having opened just last year, the 356-metre-tall Gevora Hotel claimed the title of the world's tallest hotel, overtaking the previous record holder, the JW Marriott Marquis, by one metre. With gleaming marble and gold surfaces, the five-star hotel is a lavish affair with a 12th-floor health club featuring an outdoor pool deck and hot tub along with a 71st-floor spa that provides the chance to enjoy a massage with a view. The hotel is also home to five restaurants but replaces a bar – it doesn't hold an alcohol licence – with a coffee and cake shop. Hotel guests and visitors alike can make use of the rooftop viewing deck, where you can see the world’s tallest building from the world’s tallest hotel.
Best Dubai hotels for all-out luxury
With a lengthy swimming pool running through its centre and a sleek glass cube entrance, Five Palm Jumeirah is an eye-catching addition to Dubai
Sitting within one of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks, Burj Al Arab Jumeirah is widely considered to be the world’s most luxurious hotel. Located on its very own man-made island, the exclusive property offers panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and is home to one of Dubai’s most famous restaurants: Nathan Outlaw at Al Mahara. Renowned for its floor-to-ceiling aquarium that gives the impression of dining underwater, the restaurant serves pared-down seafood dishes using ingredients flown in daily from Cornwall. Guests can also enjoy butler service at the poolside cabanas and try an extensive menu of treatments in the Talise Spa.
Since opening back in 2017, the beachfront Five Palm Jumeirah quickly became one of the emirate’s most popular hotels for those who want to see and be seen. With a lengthy swimming pool running through its centre and a sleek glass cube entrance, the hotel is an eye-catching addition to Dubai’s tree-shaped island. Inside, muted colours are partnered with Art Deco touches to create a sophisticated feel while outside the aforementioned swimming pool, lined with palm trees and sunbeds, creates a glitzy beach club feel. The crowning glory, however, is the hotel’s magnificent spa, where guests can enjoy a 24-carat gold facial, a desert crystal massage and an Arabian cleansing ritual while surrounded by Italian marble and hand-painted canvases. Five Hotels and Resorts are also due to open Five Jumeirah Village Dubai this September, which will boast an astonishing 271 swimming pools within an 800ft skyscraper.
Sister properties One&Only Royal Mirage and One&Only The Palm are two of Dubai's most exclusive properties
On Jumeirah Beach, the lavish One&Only Royal Mirage is the brand’s largest property in the world but still retains a sense of exclusivity. Spread across 65 acres of manicured, palm tree-lined gardens, it is made up of four properties in one – the Arabian Court, the Palace, the Residence & Spa, and the Beach Garden Villa – and oozes opulence with beautiful domed buildings, vaulted ceilings, bronze statues and intricately painted details. Connected by private boat transfer, the hotel’s sister property, One&Only The Palm, can be found sitting on the western tip of the island’s crescent. As well as one of Dubai’s most secluded locations, the intimate 90-room hotel also boasts some of the best dining in the city with the revered STAY by Yannick Alléno and the scenic 101 Dining Lounge and Bar.
Occupying the first eight floors and levels 38 and 39 of the world’s tallest tower, the Armani Hotel has a handsome, minimalist design
With no less than ten restaurants, bars and lounges, including popular Peruvian restaurant Coya within the Restaurant Village, Four Seasons at Jumeirah Beach is another dining powerhouse. The lavish beachfront hotel has two swimming pools, 270-metres of private beach and the elegant Pearl Spa. Standard rooms are some of the largest in Dubai and all come with a balcony, offering either beach or city views. Finding home within Burj Khalifa, the Armani Hotel Dubai also boasts spectacular views of the city skyline. Occupying the first eight floors and levels 38 and 39 of the world’s tallest tower, it has exactly the handsome, minimalist design that you would expect from Giorgio Armani, who oversaw all of the details. A moody, neutral colour palette runs throughout and in-house services include seven restaurants, a spa, an Armani chocolate shop and a jewellery store selling the covetable Giorgio Armani Privé collection.
Located on the trunk of Dubai’s tree-shaped island, Fairmont The Palm boasts an exclusive location while still providing good connections to the city. Four swimming pools and an 800-metre private beach means there’s plenty of space to get away from it all while 3,000 square metres of flexible conference and event space make it ideal for business guests. Ten restaurants serve everything from South American to Arabian cuisine and the Willow Stream Spa has a traditional Moroccan hammam, a thermal suite and 11 treatment rooms.
Best Dubai hotels for low-key luxury
Park Hyatt Dubai excels at the less-is-more approach with sophisticated and elegant interiors
At just four storeys high, Bulgari Hotel & Resorts is discreet and understated while still being luxurious and decadent, offering a refreshing alternative to the ostentatious skyscrapers that have become synonymous with the city. The building’s Mediterranean design – the work of Milan-based architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel – and Italian interior also set it apart while its location on Jumeirah Bay Island ensures privacy and escapism. Add to that Il Ristorante from three-Michelin-starred chef Niko Romito and the brand’s first-ever Yacht Club and you’ll start to question whether you’re in Dubai at all.
Another low-rise property, the sprawling Park Hyatt Dubai excels at the less-is-more approach. Set on the banks of Dubai Creek, close to the airport, the resort places pretty whitewashed buildings with blue domes among manicured gardens and palm tree avenues. The 223 rooms and suites are sophisticated and elegant with neutral tones and marina views while Brasserie du Park and NOéPE are two sleek al fresco dining options. An award-winning spa, a swimming pool with in-set palm trees and a private man-made beach with a 100-metre infinity pool are some of the most tranquil settings in Dubai.
Bulgari Hotel & Resorts is discreet and understated while still being luxurious and decadent
A century after opening in Mayfair, London, Dukes brought the best of Britain to Dubai with its first international opening, which has now been rebranded as Duke The Palm, a Royal Hideaway Hotel under new Barcelo Hotel Group management. In contrast to its flashy UAE home, subtle opulence is the signature style at this hotel. The 566-room property marries quintessential British style with plush cosmopolitan surroundings to create a unique hotel experience. Chesterfield sofas, portraits of English aristocrats, and prints of London buses and telephone boxes pay homage to the brand’s origins while marble floors and Swarovski chandeliers ramp up the luxury. There’s also a swanky cocktail bar inspired by the London original.
Closer to the Dubai World Trade Centre, Address Boulevard also takes inspiration from Europe with elegant Art Deco interiors, doormen smartly dressed in white gloves, waistcoats and flat caps, and a restaurant styled like a Parisian apartment serving a Riviera Chic Brunch. Located in Downtown Dubai, it blends in with the area’s ubiquitous skyscrapers with 72 storeys, 196 guest rooms and three swimming pools tiered on top of one another, all of which boast views of the nearby Burj Khalifa. Two more Address properties are set to launch in Dubai this year with the opening of Address Fountain Views in September and Address Sky View later in the year.

W Dubai - The Palm has bold, playful interiors featuring a number of eye-catching art installations
Mandarin Oriental made its entrance into the UAE at the beginning of this year with the opening of the spectacular Mandarin Oriental Jumeira. Located in an area that’s renowned for its pristine beaches, the hotel boasts its very own private stretch of sand along with five outdoor swimming pools, a high-end spa offering treatments unique to the property, and Dubai’s first Outrace-equipped fitness centre. Michelin-starred Portuguese chef José Avillez runs the headline restaurant, Tasca – the chef’s first international opening – while Japanese steakhouse Netsu and beachside restaurant The Bay are two more of the hotel’s seven destination dining spots.
Also making its first foray in Dubai, W Hotels Worldwide opened W Dubai - The Palm in February. Sticking to the brand’s signature club-like aesthetics, the outré property has bold, playful interiors featuring a number of eye-catching art installations – most notably a 640-piece glass installation in the lobby, created to represent a sound wave. Walls mimicking shimmering disco balls and space-age furnishings are just two of the outlandish features in the bedrooms while the restaurants and bars each have their own distinct personality. At the heart of it all is the expansive Wet Deck, where enclosed white-wicker cabanas and sunbeds sit within several pools overlooking the hotel’s private beach, and there’s also an Away Spa offering an array of full body treatments and grooming services.
Best affordable Dubai hotels
Zabeel House Al Seef by Jumeirah is part of the upscale yet casual Zabeel House by Jumeirah brand
Having opened in December 2018, Zabeel House by Jumeirah, The Greens is both new and affordable. The third hotel to open as part of the upscale yet casual Zabeel House by Jumeirah brand, which launched in early 2018, this new opening takes inspiration from New York loft living with contemporary and quirky interiors featuring art curated by local businesses. Aimed at social travellers, the property features several co-working spaces, two outdoor cinema screens, an outdoor swimming pool, two restaurants and a business centre with its own kitchen. Also part of the group, Zabeel House Mini by Jumeirah and Zabeel House Al Seef by Jumeirah sit next door to one another on the shores of Dubai Creek and both offer pleasingly affordable accommodation.
A little further down the creek, XVA Art Hotel sits within the historical Al Fahidi neighbourhood, famed for its labyrinthine alleyways and Persian architectural heritage. Putting a designer twist on affordable accommodation, the hotel is a stark contrast to Dubai’s ubiquitous skyscrapers, beautifully juxtaposing contemporary art with historic architecture to create a truly unique, tranquil getaway. Each of the 14 rooms has been individually designed and themed, and three tree-shaded courtyards are punctuated with pops of colours and eye-catching artworks. The on-site art gallery displays works by Arabian artists and the colourful on-site cafe serves a range of Middle Eastern-inspired vegetarian dishes.

With a fantastic downtown location, across the road from the Dubai Mall, Rove Downtown Dubai is a hip and comfortable three-star hotel pitched towards millennials and tech-savvy travellers. Interiors are playful, colourful, and geared towards the Instagram generation, but on-site facilities like a 24-hour gym, meeting rooms, gaming area and an outdoor swimming pool with Burj Khalifa views ensure the hotel isn’t all style and no substance. Also in the three-star sector, Centro Barsha focuses on comfort and the latest technology with 243 well-equipped rooms within a modern seven-storey building.
In 2018, Roda Hotels & Resorts opened Roda Links Al Nasr, the group's seventh property in Dubai. Aimed at both business and leisure travellers, the four-star hotel is pitched at the mid-market sector -– the fastest growing in the industry – with affordable and comfortable yet stylish accommodation near to Dubai International Airport. It comprises 114 guest rooms, four restaurants and bars, a health club and an outdoor swimming pool.
