Dubai to Introduce its First Floating Pedestrian Bridge

Dubai is set to transform its coastal landscape with a series of ambitious projects worth Dh355 million. Announced on Monday, these projects will bring the city's first floating pedestrian bridge to Al Mamzar and a 24/7 night beach to Deira. This major development will also enhance the Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 public beaches, spanning a total of 5.7km.

First Floating Pedestrian Bridge in Dubai

One of the highlights of these projects is the 200-meter floating pedestrian bridge at Al Mamzar Beach. This innovative structure will be the first of its kind in Dubai, offering a unique experience for visitors to walk over the water without getting wet. The bridge will link both sides of Al Mamzar Beach, providing a scenic and practical pathway.

24/7 Night Beach in Deira

In a move to make Dubai's coastline more accessible and enjoyable, Deira will welcome its first night beach, open 24/7. Following the success of night swimming beaches in Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3, and Umm Suqeim 1, this new addition will provide an around-the-clock beach experience for both residents and tourists.

Comprehensive Beach Development

The development of Al Mamzar and Jumeirah 1 beaches will span 18 months, enhancing their resilience to climate change. Over 500,000 cubic meters of beach sand will be used to elevate the beaches. The project includes 11km of bicycle and running tracks, a 5km walkway surrounded by trees, barbecue areas, fitness zones, and children’s play areas. Additionally, there will be beach rest houses and seasonal event spaces.

Modern Amenities and Safety Measures

Safety and convenience are paramount in these projects. The beaches will feature automatic irrigation systems, 1,400 car parking spots, safety deposit boxes, WiFi, electronic screens, beach rescue services, and 100 security cameras linked to Dubai Municipality and police control rooms.

Investment Opportunities

Authorities have also announced 50 investment opportunities, including water activities leasing, commercial kiosks, restaurants, self-service machines for food and beverages, advertising spaces, and beach seating and umbrellas. This initiative aims to enhance the visitor experience while fostering economic growth.

Expanding Dubai's Coastline

These projects are part of a broader vision to expand Dubai's coastline by 400%. This expansion will increase the city’s public beaches from the current 21km to 105km, offering more space for recreation and tourism.
