Dubai International to get a new air traffic management system
Dubai is set to install a new advanced air traffic control system in the coming months.
The TopSky – Air Traffic Control (ATC) system from Thales has been chosen by Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects (DAEP) to improve the safety, capacity, and efficiency of air navigation services.
TopSky - ATC is a highly resilient system with numerous layers of redundancy that allows operations to continue without interruption. The solution meets the most stringent national and international regulations, as well as the needs of Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest airport.
With its enormous network of carriers and airport connectivity, the UAE has built one of the world's most seamless air travel experiences, functioning as a hub that connects the East and the West.
The nation's airports are set to recover to full capacity soon, thanks to smart planning, world-class safety measures, and the employment of cutting-edge technology, with the EXPO 2020 Dubai contributing to ongoing traffic into the following year.

The system will also provide 'approach services' for the Northern Emirates, allowing traffic flows to be optimized for better capacity and safety while decreasing airplane fuel use.
"Dubai International Airport's passengers and cargo handling capacity, number of plane movements, and network of connected destinations are all rising exponentially thanks to the DAEP's ongoing series of significant expansions and development projects."
"Our collaboration with Thales will improve our technical efficiency and resilience in managing air traffic management, which is one of the most critical airport operations," said Suzanne AlEnany, CEO of Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.
